Becoming a Psychologist in Israel
Hello Dalia,
To my knowledge, to practice psychology in Israel one must obtain a license from the Israeli Ministry of Health. This is relevant in the fields of clinical psychology, educational psychology, medical psychology, developmental psychology, and rehabilitation psychology. To obtain this license, one must be a graduate of a master’s degree in psychology (in the relevant subject) from a recognized higher education institution in Israel, or from an institute abroad recognized as equivalent by the Psychology Registration Committee. In addition, after completing one’s graduate degree one must continue to successfully complete an internship (which spans 2-4 years), and pass mandatory tests.
To practice psychotherapy and conduct diagnoses, one must hold a specialist psychologist valid license. The licensure process is conducted via the Ministry of health.
If you are looking for a master’s degree in psychology in Israel conducted in English, to my knowledge, Ariel University offers a master’s degree in psychology in English for new Olim. All other M.A degrees in psychology in Israel are conducted in Hebrew.
