M.A. in Jewish Education at Hebrew University of Jerusalem

The Road to Jewish Identity

Jewish educators around the world face complicated and difficult issues when it comes to teach people of all ages about Judaism and Israel. For this reason Jerusalem's Hebrew University launched this exceptional program aiming to advise educators and equip them with new methods of teaching Jewish culture and history to kids and adults.

Practitioners of both formal and informal frameworks can benefit from innovative ways of passing knowledge about Jewish traditions and Israeli culture to their students abroad in order to familiarize the latter with their own background.

Study Program

The master's track includes several courses involving Jewish and Israel studies as well as many other classes that focus on Jewish education in particular. There are also classes regarding activism and informal learning to educators that wish to intertwine social and communal work with studies. Some of the courses include practical workshops.

The program is entirely in English; however, students may choose to take some courses in Hebrew in case they have sufficient knowledge of the language. In addition, students may take Hebrew classes (Ulpan).

The M.A. program in Jewish Education is a one year program that lasts two semesters. The studies take place two days a week.

The courses include the following subjects:

* Social Sciences
* Teaching Jewish Texts
* Innovation in Education
* Jewish Philosophy
* Contemporary Values and Methods
