M.Sc. Machine Learning and Data Science at Reichman University (IDC Herzliya)

 

The Efi Arazi School of Computer Science at Reichman University (IDC Herzliya) offers an M.Sc. graduate program in Machine Learning and Data Science. In this innovative track students from Israel and abroad can broaden their theoretical and practical understanding of data-driven methods.

 

This track aims to provide an answer to the growing demand for skilled researchers in the industry and academic institutions. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical tools in the field of machine learning and learn about data-driven methods. They get acquainted with foundations, techniques and application domains, and study relevant use cases from the industry.

 

Students begin by creating a strong scientific and technological background, upon which they build advanced knowledge in data analysis and processing. In addition, they gain relevant programming skills in Python and learn to use programming in machine learning and statistical analysis processes. They also specialize in several advanced topics including deep learning, data science, bioinformatics and environmental informatics, data science uses in biomedicine, and more.

 

 

This program spans 2 calendar years and comprises 4 semesters. In this part-time program, courses are taught two days a week, including Fridays. All courses are conducted in English.

 

During their studies, students take part in mandatory and elective courses, and participate in hands-on experience including projects of different scales in which they get acquainted with technologies and methodologies in machine learning and data science.

 

This program aims at creating partnering opportunities for students, researchers and scientists and building an innovative scientific community.

The head of this program, Prof. Zohar Yakhini, is a researcher in the field of bioinformatics and data analysis. Among his areas of expertise are synthetic biology, computational biology in the battle against cancer, data analysis from several platforms, and more.

 

 

Admission requirements include the following:

 

- Undergraduate degree from recognized institution in the following fields: B.Sc. in computer science with a GPA of 82% and above, or a B.Sc. in other relevant fields with a GPA of 85% and above.

 

- Non-computer science undergraduates are required to take preparatory courses: introduction to computer science and Python, introduction to databases and operating systems, data structures and algorithms.

 

- Candidates with insufficient quantitative background are required to complete prerequisite courses: calculus A / B, probability, algebra for data science.

 

- English Proficiency: graduates of non-English speaking high-schools are required to submit an English proficiency exam score (IELTS, TOEFL etc.)

 

 

Graduates receive an M.Sc. degree in Machine Learning and Data Science.
