M.Sc. in Plant Science with an Emphasis in Food Security at Tel-Aviv University

  

At Tel-Aviv University, students can participate in a Master's program for M.Sc. in plant science that puts a strong emphasis on food safety and security. This track aims at outstanding students that are enthusiastic about agriculture and allows them to get academic knowledge and practical tools that can assist them in creating a more sustainable future in their home countries.

Study program 
 

This is an interdisciplinary program, which grants its students research training in the following fields: plant molecular genetics, ecology, cell biology, bioinformatics, and biochemistry. During their studies, students can deepen their understanding of pathological and physiological aspects related to extending shelf life of fresh produce.

 

In addition, students are exposed to courses on plant-based and cultivated meat.

Duration and structure 
 
This program comprises three semesters and spans 10 months, students that choose the thesis track have an additional year dedicated to research. The program is taught entirely in English.

 

This program combines theoretic courses with hands on experience in agriculture, that allows the students to gain practical experience and get to know the various agricultural techniques used in Israel.

Admission requirements 
 
Admission requirements include:
 
- A bachelor’s degree in the following fields: agriculture, biology, or bio technology.
- A GPA of 3.0 and above.
- Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide proof of their English proficiency.
 

 

Accreditation 
 
Students that successfully complete all the requirements in this program receive a Master of Sciences in Plant Science with an Emphasis in Food Security from Tel-Aviv University.
